Using the site

You may use The Copybook for your own and your family's learning, and teachers may use it with their classes. Print what you like, work through as much as you like, and come back as often as you like. There is no limit and no account.

What you may not do is scrape the site wholesale, republish the practice questions and explanations as your own, or present the site as being connected to you or your business.

The past papers

The KS2 SATs papers and mark schemes are Crown copyright. They are reproduced here under the Open Government Licence v3.0, which lets anyone re-use them free of charge provided the required attribution is given. That attribution appears on every paper page.

The English reading booklets are not hosted here. They contain material the Department for Education is not permitted to license on, so those pages link to the official publication instead. If you re-use the papers yourself, the licence applies to you in the same way it applies to us, and the reading booklets remain outside it.

Our own material

The practice questions, the worked explanations, the comprehension passages and the regional guides are written for this site and belong to it. You are welcome to use them with your own children or your own class. You may not republish them, sell them, or feed them into a product of your own.

What this site is not

• It is not a tutoring service, and it does not predict how any child will do in any exam.
• It has no connection to any examination board, grammar school, local authority or the Standards and Testing Agency.
• The regional guides describe what the authorities have published, with the date each fact was checked. Admissions arrangements are re-set every year. Always check the authority's own pages before you rely on a date — every guide links to the ones it was written from.

Accuracy, and telling us when we are wrong

We take some trouble over accuracy: every practice answer is re-checked by a second program before it goes on the site, and every dated fact in a guide carries its source. Mistakes will still get through. The site is provided as it is, without any warranty, and we are not liable for decisions made on the strength of it — but if you find an error, tell us and we will fix it.

These terms may change as the site does. The date below says when they last did.
